Developmental Disability Services


SECOH provides a wide range of professionally supervised support services and activities for people with disabilities. All services are provided in a person-centered manner that respects individual preferences and preserves one's privacy and dignity. Customers are encouraged and supported in the expression of their individual rights and preferred lifestyles. SECOH provides consultation to ensure that each service package is appropriately designed to meet the personal needs and preferences of the individual. Service packages may include one or more of the services offered by SECOH.


Day Services

Day services may include center and community based activities and instruction.  Activities may include arts and crafts, gardening, computers, swimming, basketball, miniature gold, volleyball, aerobics, video games, cooking and karaoke.  Visits to parks, beaches, theaters, shopping malls, sporting and cultural events, concerts, fairs and tourist attractions are also offered on a regular basis. 

Individualized supports based on the customers' preferences and needs also offer:Wheelchair accessible pool use

  • Professional speech, occupational and physical therapy
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Variety of meal options

Day services are available in the Kahala, Kalihi, Pearl City and Waipahu communities on Oahu.  All activity supplies, admissions fees, hot lunch, snacks, and transportation are included at no additional charge.  Day service hours at the Founder's Center in Kahala, the Pualani Manor Recreation Center in Kalihi and the Waipahu Community Center are Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.  The Leeward Center in Pearl City operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

 

Habilitation

Habilitation services support individuals to be participating members of their communities. Support may include companionship or assistance to participate in recreational and leisure activities as well as to accomplish the tasks of everyday life such as shopping and banking. Services are coordinated with school, day service, vocational and therapeutic activities as appropriate. The service is available in a small group or in a one to one setting. Fully qualified staff and professional supervision assure that individuals and their families are adequately supported.



Personal Assistance

Assisting with meal preparationPersonal Assistance services support individuals with activities of daily living to enable them to more fully access and participate in their communities.  The service may also include:

  • assistance with individual meal preparation, cleaning and laundry
  • specialized therapy and medical treatments
  • socialization

Professional supervision and qualified staff assure quality in a one to one arrangement.



Skilled Nursing

Skilled Nursing services may include assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation in the promotion and maintenance of an individual's health. A licensed nurse provides the service in any setting.

Respite services are provided for the temporary relief of the individual, family or primary care provider. Services may be provided in a variety of settings during the day or overnight. Individualized planning and professional supervision are provided to facilitate a successful outcome for all parties.

 


Supported Employment

Qualified staff, professional supervision and individualized planning provide long term support to individuals who are employed in competitive work settings.
